A Wonderful PINK Saturday to you!

In Texas, there is a famous flea market called First Monday Trade Days, or as I say to family and friends, Wanna go to "Canton"?! It's located in Canton, TX, and it's the WORLD's largest trade days! It's a tradition every month in our house. It's held Thursday to Sunday on the weekend before the first Monday of every month! I went with my daughter today and the weather here was just perfect, it was 75-80 degrees! Christmas was everywhere and it was packed! What fun! Below is one shop I like to frequent and the girls there were festive for the holiday! Cathy was so sweet and agreed to become my pink Saturday this week! Thanks, Cathy! I love your store! P.S. You can read more about Canton Trade Days at http://www.firstmondaycanton.com/

BLOG AWARDS...

I am behind on posting and thanking my blogger friends who have recently tagged me with awards! I'm sorry I haven't thanked you before now! I just get so caught up in "life" and get behind, but I really appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness in tagging me! I posted the awards to your left right over there. Now, there's rules with these awards, but I really can't fulfill them as they're supposed to be, so I will just acknowledge a few blogs that I check out daily because of different aspects to them. They are:
1. Andrea Singarella at http://velvetstrawberries.typepad.com/andreasingarella/
I love Andrea's blog because her pictures inspire me! Her post just yesterday on the 28th was so dear of her son, Sam's birthday party! What a great mom too!
2. Holly from http://www.hollydoodledesigns.com/shop/ She has many items that I just have to buy, I love her, but I probably should stay away from her site so I don't go broke!
3. I recently came upon the blog "The baby gardener's baby bloggie" at http://thebabygardner.com/blog/ and am perusing it since I'm going to have my first grandchild coming in April, and she has the sweet vintage look I just crave! If you like vintage baby items and the look, check her out!
4. Another blog I found a while back that inspires me and is eye candy is Inspire Company! I first found her section called "featured artist" and it was a site you could spend at least a full hour just clicking through with lots of links to wonderful artists and free projects for you to try! Then I checked out her main blog section at http://inspireco.blogspot.com/ and she's just the sweetest lady and has so much patience and talent in the sweet crafts she makes and sells! I am coveting her cute sugar coated houses right now! I haven't bought one yet, but my finger is itching to click "buy now." I'm trying to restrain myself!
5. And I'll stop here at Foxgloves Fabric and Folly's blog at http://www.foxglovesfabricandfolly.blogspot.com/ I know many of you visit her regularly too! It's like flipping through a professionally tailored magazine, isn't it! She has beautiful ideas every day on her blog and it's so well presented and colorful too!

There are many others I visit, but this is just a taste of those I have on my must-visit list daily!
Hugs and Kisses to all my blogger friends..... Suzie Button

A Halloween Pumpkin for my Husband!

I thought to give my husband a little Halloween gift this year by carving him a McCain - Palin pumpkin! It was easy! There are political patterns at http://hosted.ap.org/specials/interactives/_lifestyles/political_pumpkins/
I think I'll do a second pumpkin with one of Martha Stewart's patterns online too!
My daughter Megan carved with me this year, this was her first year to carve her own pumpkin, well, as a married mother-to-be, that is! Happy Halloween! Suzie

Happy Pink Saturday/Craft Day with Girlfriends!

My friends Maria and Gail and I (and sometimes my daughter Megan) like to get together to craft on days when we're not working and create! Yesterday we did just that! Gail had discoverd a company called Dharma Trading company (http://www.dharmatrading.com/silk_scarves.html) where you can buy many different types of scarves and dyes and make handmade scarves! Below are a couple examples of what we made! I showed the steps to make the PINK scarf below. First Maria stamped on a design she liked (Paris theme) all over the scarf with rubberstamps and permanent ink. Then you soak it for 20 min. in a mixture of vinegar and water, then tie knots (or not) and then cover your work surface, and mix up the dye solution in the bottle and just squirt, squirt, squirt! Then put it in a plastic Ziploc, and put it in your microwave for two minutes, but WATCH it! It could burst! Everytime it bubbles up high, stop the microwave and let it deflate. After the 2 minutes, take it out and rinse it, and undo the knots and let it dry and VOILA you have a beautiful scarf made by YOU! What do you think?!!! It was a lot of fun! Thanks Gail for having us over to your home and for dessert too! Suzie

Katie shows off the finished pink scarf....

I forgot to actually take a picture of the finished scarf during craft day, so Katie loves to assist me by modeling my craft adventures! She also said, let me put on the other scarves too! I really loved how the blue and red scarves turned out! Thanks, Katie, for your modeling services!

My friend Gail and Pink Saturday continue....

So Gail's going to kill me when she sees I posted her picture with whipped cream on her lip! I made her leave it on her lip for the picture, she'll get me later for it! I begin with a few pink pictures from her house, but Gail has a style in her home that many of us bloggers love, so I've added a few extra pics from around her house to give you a peek! Beautiful, Gail! Thanks for having us over for craft day! Suzie
