An American Girl

Her name is Kit Kitteredge (Abagail Bresen)and I ran across the movie tonight on HBO and was drawn in by the charm of the movie Kit Kitteredge: An American Girl"

Surely the movie is for the tween age group, but that didn't make my interest wane! I found the movie charming, a Nancy Drew type book come to life!
Photobucket
My husband walked up and said, "What are you watching?" When I told him, he mumbled something under his breath and left! I don't think he's into tween movies, he,he!
I especially enjoyed the fashions from the depression era, the dresses were so cute!
A great movie for your children, and, well, Mom, you will want to watch too!
I give it a five stars for FUN!
Photobucket
I remember when the American Girl Dolls became the craze and I just had to have one for my daughter Katie! I believe the one we bought one Christmas was Kit, too! I just loved the quality of the doll and the story along with it.
Now Katie's almost 21, those days are long gone by, but I still love American Girl Dolls and I hope every little girl out there has a special doll of her own!
I've added a few songs from the movie, so I hope you enjoy them also!

A Crown for a Queen!

I am putting the finishing touches on my crown for my swap partner for the soon-to-happen Paper Cowgirl art Retreat in Waxahachie, TX!
Photobucket My partner is LaVerne at Riverside Studios and she's a true Texan girl, so I really had to "cowgirl" up this little crown for her! Photobucket
Next I have to begin my fabric cowgirl themed book pages, and I need to make 11 (AH!!!) so I better hurry!
P.S. I will be showing a little tutorial on making the coochie tulle flowers that you see on this crown on Monday at my sewing blog Suzie Sews (and not just) Buttons, so please visit!

It was a gorgeous Friday afternoon in May, just a couple weeks ago, when my daughter and I took Madison to the park for a little company picnic with Grandpa's work.
We kept her delicate skin out of the sun and snapped a few adorable pictures!

Happy Pink Saturday!

Photobucket
Hi, friends! Welcome to another beautiful Pink Saturday, thanks to our lovely host Beverly at How Sweet the Sound!
I thought I'd share today closeups of my collection of Lefton Bloomer Girls today.
I gave the girls a "bath" last night to dust them off so they'd be pretty and shiny for you this Pink Saturday!
Photobucket
Here's a bit of the History of the Lefton Company for you as you scroll through...
Photobucket
The Lefton Company was founded in 1941 by Hungarian immigrant George Lefton who arrived in Chicago in 1939 with a business vision and passion for collecting fine porcelain. Although his background lay in marketing and designing specialty clothing, Lefton embarked on a career change with a ceramics business plan.
Photobucket
In 1945, Lefton was among the first to travel to Occupied Japan to seal an importing agreement. The first Lefton china product with a "Made In Occupied Japan" understamp reached Americans in 1946. Today the Lefton Company imports over 500 item SKUs annually which can be found in over 10,000 retail shops nationwide. Many of the vintage collectibles you find at antiques stores and estate sales are ceramic Lefton collectibles.
Photobucket
Aren't they just gorgeous?! I display them in a mirrored shelf above my fireplace and really enjoy just sitting a while to look at them in the evenings...
Photobucket
They really represent my "style," very feminine, of another era in design, and soft pastel colorings, plus I love shiny glazes on figurines, I like when the light hits it and it just glows!
Photobucket
The bride bloomer girl above is one of my favorites! I collect vintage bride and groom cake toppers also and to find both a bloomer girl AND a bride made my heart race!
My daughter Megan started her FIRST blog today! I showed her the "ropes" and hopefully she'll have as much fun blogging as I do! If you have a chance please visit her at Miss Madison's Charmed Life
Happy Pink Saturday!

Another blog?

Well, YES, I am considering starting a second blog to delve into my LOVE of sewing! I LOVE sewing really over all other craft forms, I just love the whole process, from beginning to end!
Photobucket
I love the fabrics all lined up in the fabric store, just begging to be purchased!
I love all the colorful threads!
I love perusing the pattern books for a pattern!
I love the idea of a flat piece of fabric being magically sewn together to form something functional, beautiful, and I see my sewing as an expression of my love for those whom I'm sewing for!
I love the technology of embroidery machines and all the possibilities they've opened up to embellish!
I just LOVE sewing! You too?

I think I'll call my additional blog "Suzie Sews (not just a) Button"
What do you think?
OH, and I found Sewing Blogs and I want to be added to their list of sewing blogs, so why not, right?!

Baby, Baby... Surprise!

My day was brighter today because this little baby face was over to visit Grandma today...
Photobucket
And then I finished up sewing together the adorable baby for Craft Hope and she turned out so cute! Now I can get her mailed tomorrow ON TIME! Yeah!
Photobucket
And then OH SWEET BABY... PUPPY! YES! Our newest member of the family! We just got him yesterday! We have been thinking about another English Springer Spaniel for a couple of months, and now we decided that, yes, we're ready to have a new baby, so here he is...
Photobucket
Look at these beautiful green eyes! He's just about the same age too as my Granddaughter, nine weeks old! Such a sweet baby!

Welcome to another beautiful Pink Saturday!

Hi, friends! I hope the weather is beautiful wherever you are and that you're having a glorious weekend!
I thought I'd share a small vignette I put together with some vintage mirrors I purchased at Canton last week. I thought they were so pretty and it made me happy when I saw how gorgeous they looked in one of my milk glass vases!
Photobucket
Plus, the wooden tulips were purchased actually IN Holland when I took a girlfriends Europe trip in 2008. The little girl looked French to me, she's one of those McDonald's dolls from years ago!
Photobucket
And I just HAVE to throw in this picture of my daughter Megan with my little sweet granddaughter Madison from today! Look how pretty Megan is in Pink and also Madison has those to-die-for socks! I could just kiss her all day!
Thanks to Beverly for, as usual, a splendid Pink Saturday! Pop over to her site to visit all your other girlfriends at How Sweet the Sound

Progress!

I was pleased to be able to get the doll I'm sewing finished up yesterday and now I just need to make her clothes (and a little bit of hair too!) and then onto my crown project!
The adorable fabric she's laying on will soon become part of her outfit!
Photobucket
I hope this doll will bring a little happiness to the little girl who receives it! I said little prayers of love for this little girl in my heart while I sewed it together....

Project upon Project upon Project!

It's slow going on the craft front here! I am still cutting out my doll pieces, and do you see the peek of a crown in the picture?! That's part of my NEXT craft I have to get going on in a hurry here for the Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat on June 27th!
I had a "vision" of the cowgirl crown for my swap partner though last night before I fell asleep. That's when I get my best ideas, right before I fall asleep. You too?
Plus there's two more swaps for that event too to get together. YIKES!
Photobucket
Say a little craft prayer for Suzie Button, ok?! Smiles...
Oh, BTW, if you LOVE my pincushion (as much as I do!) you can get your own here at She's Sew Pretty Etsy site Mine was a gift in a swap. SO CUTE!!
